Muay Thai Kickboxing
"The fighter you have to watch out for, isn't the one being loud, talking a lot, showing off. No sir. It's the quiet, humble, respectful one that will get you."
- Ajarn Chai, President and Founder of the World Thai Boxing Association.
Muay Thai: Art of 8 Limbs | Broome County Martial Arts, Binghamton, NY
Muay Thai, or Thai Boxing, is a blend of art, science and sport. The Thai art is a very powerful ring fighting method, yet is also an excellent form of physical conditioning and street self-defense. It is commonly referred to as "the art of 8 limbs" incorporating punches, elbows, knees and the powerful Thai style of kicking. Muay Thai is a very spiritual art which places great emphasis on respect and discipline. Our academy teaches the form taught by Ajarn Surachai "Chai" Sirisute, the man who brought Muay Thai to the United States and founded the Thai Boxing Association of America (TBA). The TBA's membership and influence extends well throughout the Americas and overseas into Europe, Asia and Australia and has since been renamed the World Thai Boxing Association. Broome County Martial Arts Academy is the Southern Tier's only WTBA affiliate school led by Kru Tamdan McCrory.
